A sentence worth thousands of lives.
Before 2018, I was honestly afraid of domestic pets. That all changed when my sister brought her dog, Cody, into our family home. Through him, I learned to love dogs, and seeing the staggering reality of strays on our streets began to affect me deeply. I initially tried reaching out to various local NGOs to help find adopters for the rescues we cared for, but their efforts consistently fell short. Why buy a pet from profit-driven breeders when thousands of loving companion animals are desperately seeking shelter? I knew we had to change the narrative.
Leaning on my background as a digital marketer, I decided to create my own platforms to help these animals. What started as a digital initiative in June 2018 quickly evolved. By August 2019, driven by an urgent need for systemic change, we officially registered Adopt Don't Shop as a charity in Lebanon (NGO #1514). I couldn't be prouder of how this journey has grown, expanding our operations from Lebanon to the rest of the world, with a special focus on France to connect with our expat community.
Our “Why”
Every rescue, every late-night emergency run, and every successful adoption is driven by four core pillars:
Humanity: We believe in humanity. Helping a defenseless, voiceless living soul is the greatest manifestation of human compassion.
Education: We believe it is only through education that animal abuse and abandonment will truly be stopped.
Technology: As a digital marketer, I believe in leveraging the digital world to spread the right messages at the right time, minimizing chaos and maximizing our reach.
Community work: We believe that through joint collaboration, our society can become a better place for all living creatures; a society where violence and suffering simply do not exist. That is our dream.
Our Vision & Values
Our vision is to be the regional role model in placing pets in qualified, loving adoptive homes. What makes us different is our unwavering commitment to the cause and our approach to the community:
100% Volunteer-run: We consist entirely of volunteers dedicated to this cause. Our NGO operates without any paid staff, ensuring that 100% of your donations go directly toward rescuing, medically treating, and sheltering animals.
A compassionate approach: We pride ourselves on a non-judgmental, empathetic approach to animal welfare. We endeavor to support anyone who needs help caring for their pets.
Global reach: With your help, we aren’t just shaping the dialogue in Lebanon; we are medically helping animals across the country and re-homing them anywhere in the world.
